Croc in pool forces swimmers to make snappy exit DARWIN, Australia, Sunday (AFP) Swimmers cooling off in a pool in the northern Australian city of Darwin made a snappy exit Sunday after realising one of their fellow bathers was a crocodile. The young saltwater croc, measuring about one metre (three foot, four inches), is believed to have wandered into the 50-metre pool at a leisure centre from a nearby lagoon in the tropical northern port. A spokeswoman at the leisure centre said there were only about four people in the pool at the time and they left in a hurry after spotting the croc. "They got a bit of a shock," she said. However, she said the croc "really wasn't big enough to hurt anyone." Police and parks and wildlife officials were called in to remove the croc which was described as placid and in poor health. |
