Suspected LTTEer shot dead in Negombo by Asanga Warnakulasuriya A suspected LTTE cadre identified by Police as Benedict Regan was shot dead yesterday in Ethukala, Negombo Police said. According to Police, the 23-year-old LTTE suspect was shot dead around 2.00 a.m. at his residence in Peter Mendis Mawatha, Ethukala. Unidentified gunmen whom Police suspect to be members of the LTTE pistol gang had fired four shots with a T56 at their target before fleeing. Investigators found a photograph of LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran in the victim's pocket. On the directions of Negombo SSP Jagath Keenawinna, Police are investigating to ascertain the victim's links with the LTTE and to identify the killers. |
