Rs. 15m housing project for low income families at Kurunegala

H.L. de Mel Company Ltd. launched a housing project for low income families in the Kurunegala district. Under this project the company will build 80 houses at Panliyedda, Melsiripura. The company will spend Rs.15 million on this project.

The foundation stone for the housing scheme was laid by Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, Anura Kumara Dissanayake recently.

The Minister called upon the plantation sector to contribute to solve the housing problem in the country.

"Due to the recent tsunami disaster several people have been left homeless. It is the responsibility of the business community in the country to assist these people," the Minister said.
