by Anjana Gamage The final report of the information collected by the National Tourist Guide Lecturers' Association of Sri Lanka (NTGLASL), on missing tourists in the tsunami will be handed over to the Director General of Sri Lanka Tourist Board (SLTB) S. Kalaiselvam today at 10.00 a.m, Secretary to the Association, Shantha Senadheera told the Daily News. Three batches of the Tour Guides Lecturers' Association went on a search mission a week ago to Pottuvil, Arugam Bay, Batticaloa, Panama and Trincomalee to inspect and gather information on missing tourists in Sri Lanka. "Whatever the information collected by the members of the NTGLASL after their visit to these areas have been included in this report", he said. Meanwhile, SLTB sources said that more than 150 foreign tourists were confirmed dead in Sri Lanka due to the tragedy and several tourists have gone missing since the tsunami. However, the SLTB took steps to bring foreigners who were in the coastal area back to Colombo and temporarily sheltered them at the main hall of the BMICH. Authorities have taken action to send 4000 tourists to their homelands. |
