Magnificent 174 by Tharindu

In form batsman Tharindu Attanayake cracked a magnificent 174 runs as Nalanda College forced a draw to their inter school cricket tournament match against Royal played at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Attanayake also completed his second century for the season and helped his team reach an impressive 300 for 9 which gave them a first innings lead of 22 runs. Royal then collapsed to 146 for 7 in their second innings with Gihan Rupasinghe capturing 4 for 43.

Royal: 278 for 9 decl and 146 for 7 (N. Punchihewa 30, F. Ahmed 23, D. Siriwardena 23, M. Maligaspe 48, G. Rupasinghe 4 for 43).

Nalanda: 300 for 9 decl (T. Attanayake 174, Y. Hewawitharana 46, K. Vidanagamarachchi 2 for 68, D. Wijeratne 4 for 87)
