Australian, Canadian Govts to provide necessary health care

by Bharatha Malawaraarachchi

The Australian and Canadian Governments have pledged to provide the necessary health care to prevent an outbreak of epidemics and other health hazards and to ensure uninterrupted medical services in the tsunami affected areas.

Accordingly, they have agreed to provide the necessary antiseptics which are required for preventing any diseases that could spread in the tsunami affected areas, a Health Ministry spokesman told the Daily News.

Visiting Canadian Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh made this pledge when he met Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva at the Ministry to discuss about the prevailing health situation in the country.

The Australian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Greg French has told Minister de Silva that the Australian Government would dispatch an additional eight ton consignment of medicines next week.
