Rs.1.7 m. medical aid from Lankan doctor in New Zealand

Daughter of well-known actor and director Namel Weeramuni and Malini Weeramuni, Dr. (Mrs.) Slushna Weeramuni who is a well qualified doctor is donating medical aid and drugs to the Ministry of Health in aid of Tsunami devastation.

This medical donation is worth of more than US $ 17,000 and contains vital drugs and First Aid items.

Dr. (Mrs.) Slushna Weeramuni has left Sri Lanka after her primary education here and has studied in London. She has qualified in several medical degrees and now is practising in Orcland, New Zealand as a GP.

She has gathered vital medical items with her friends in New Zealand and planning to conduct a Vaccination Program in effected areas in next week with her colleague physicians.

Dr. (Mrs.) Slushna has come to Sri Lanka on her own expenses and co-ordinates with Ministry of health in this need. When she met Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, she explained about her plans on 30.12.2004.

She is co-ordinating with the New Zealand Medical items and Drug manufacturers to bring down necessary items to Sri Lanka.

This Vaccination Project and the medical items distribution program is arranged and supported with Aruna Aluthge, Director of Fitness Kingdom, the local co-ordinator of Dr. Slushna.
