Quick relief for tsunami disaster from Norway

The Norwegian Government has already taken steps to grant a donation worth of US $ 850,000.

This will cover districts such as Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Mullaitivu & Jaffna.

As Sri Lanka needs a quick help at this point of time.

This logistical distribution and purchasing of relief material such as apparel, food, medicine & shelter equipment, Norwegian People's Aid will be sending a supply of convoy up to Vanni region Thursday.

Mine threat in the mine effected Vadamarachchi (east region) were removed by NPA/HDU demining teams during 2003/04 clearance operation.

Mr. S. Abeywansa stated that the funding is needed above being imported from overseas.

He further stated that by purchasing items in the country, the local economy of the country can recover with greater speed.
