January 10, new school term

The Ministry of Education will re-commence the new academic year of 2005 in all schools other than those affected by the floods on January 10. The schools where Ordinary Level Examination papers are being corrected will re-open on January 17.

Schools occupied by displaced persons will be made functional once the displaced persons are re-located in alternative accommodation. Until such time double sessions for certain schools will have to be initiated so that educational activities in certain schools could be made possible very early.

A special task team of the Ministry of Education is coordinating this activity with relevant organisations.
