50 LTTE cadres stopped at Black Bridge by Ranil Wijayapala Troops manning the entry-exit point at the Black Bridge in Batticaloa yesterday stopped a group of 50 LTTE cadres - 20 females and 30 males entering cleared area in Batticaloa as female cadres were wearing a belt identical to that sported by the LTTE, military sources said. According to military sources the 50 LTTE cadres reached Black Bridge around 12.30 p.m. yesterday to enter the cleared areas in Batticaloa. However, Security Forces personnel manning the checkpoint had informed them that female cadres cannot be allowed to enter government controlled areas with their belts and had requested them to at least put those belts in their baggages. There had been a tense situation at the entry-exit point as the LTTE cadres tried to enter government controlled areas ignoring the Security Forces' request. However, the incident was settled with the involvement of LTTE Political Wing leader Kaushalyan and the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission in Batticaloa around 2.30 pm. |
