LTTE denies hand in pro-war pamphlets

by Manjula Fernando

The LTTE yesterday denied any involvement in distributing pro-war pamphlets in Jaffna that urged the people of North and East to be prepared for another war.

Rejecting certain reports that the move was an LTTE 'behind-the-scene-plot', and an indication of an impending war, LTTE spokesman Daya Master said there was no intention by the LTTE to return to war.

"We have nothing to do with the distribution of pamphlets in Jaffna. It did not bare our name which means it was not distributed by us," Daya Master said.

He said the Government has submitted a fresh agenda for talks through Norwegian Special Envoy Eric Solheim to Anton Balasingham in London recently.

"Our response to this fresh agenda will be handed over to the Government through the Norwegians in a day or two," he said. Asked if the Government has asked for a time frame for the proposed ISGA, the spokesman said he was not aware of this particular issue.

He said they were ready to discuss any clarifications on the ISGA the government needs to clear, at the negotiating table but was not prepared to include counter proposals in the agenda for initial talks.
