Women's World Cup 2005 : 

Sri Lanka will make it to the semis - Gwen Herat

A confident Gwen Herat, President, Women's Cricket Association of SL said she was confident that Sri Lanka will make it to the semis at the Women's World Cup 2005 in South Africa with the new blood in the Sri Lanka team coached by Nihal Kodituwakku. She feels they could upset South Africa in Pretoria.

The selectors have announced an 18-strong national squad after five trial matches and the final 14 with 2 reserves will be announced early next year after ratification by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. With many new comers and a school girl, the team is gathering momentum is building up confidence. Sponsored by Singer, the girls are determined to jump ahead in their world ranking in the sixth slot.
