Colts Cricket Club spearheaded by a brilliant all round performance from test cap Chaminda Vaas clinched the Premier Division one League title overcoming BRC on the first innings in the final concluded at the SSC grounds, Maitland Place yesterday.

Vaas followed up his knock of 134 on the opening day with a hostile spell of bowling claiming five wickets for 32 runs as BRC were dismissed for 178 runs in the first innings. The best effort for BRC came from opener Manoj Mendis who stroked a fluent 73 under tremendous pressure.

BRC who were well placed at 125 for 3 collapsed sensationally losing their last five wickets for the addition of just 34 runs. Chaminda Vaas ran through the middle order with some splendid bowling and received good support from Indika Gallage and Niroshan Bandaratilleke.

Colts CC in their second innings hit up an impressive 162 for 5 with opener Shantha Kalawitigoda scoring exactly 100 not out from 117 balls with the help of four sixes and 12 fours. He was associated in an opening stand of 77 runs together with skipper Romesh Kaluwitharana who made 36 in his final appearance for his club.
