Examination of prosecution witnesses over by Sandasen Marasinghe Examination of the witnesses of Prosecution of the Udatalawinna Massacre Case has been concluded, Deputy Solicitor General Palitha Fernando yesterday informed the Trial-at-Bar. The Trial-at-Bar Comprises High Court Judges Eric Basnayake (President), Deepali Wijesundara and Sunil Rajapakse. The Court observed that the accused could give evidence before the court or could make a dock statement. President's Counsel Tirantha Walaliyadda and Anil Silva pleaded for a short period until they produce the list of witnesses before the Court. One hundred and six (106) witnesses gave evidence in this case including Magistrates, former Army Commander Lionel Balagalla, Deputy Election Commissioner P. M. Siriwardana, Deputy Government Analyst W. D. G. S. Gunatilake, Criminal Investigation Department officials and Judicial Medical Officers. The Trial-at-Bar fixed December 2 for the Defence to produce the list of witnesses. |
