Sri Jayawardhanapura University Students Union representatives met the Secretary, Ministry of Education, Chairman UGC, Vice Chancellor, University of Sri Jayawardhanapura and other officials regarding accelerating the Hostel Development Project of the University of Sri Jayawardhanapura. An Education Ministry press release stated four proposals that had been discussed previously connected to expanding accommodation opportunities for Sri Jayawardhanapura students were reviewed at this meeting. It was decided to immediately take action to prioritise the four projects and for the University Council to appoint a Hostel Project Implementation Team to commence work from January 2005. Approval will be obtained from the Cabinet of Ministers to use the funds allocated and to seek additional assistance to implement these projects. It was also noted that accommodating a double batch of university students could be postponed until accommodation facilities are increased at Sri Jayawardhanapura. |
