Sportsman retires

A.M.T.B. Attanayake, Chief Accountant of the Kandy Municipal Council and a former sportsman of Poramadulla Central College, Rikelagaskanda retired after serving 39 years in the Government Service.

Attanayake excelled in athletics where his favourite events were the discuss throw, 4 x 400 metres relay and the 4 x 100 metres relay events. He has served in Colombo, Galle, Nuwara Eliya, Matale and ended up in Kandy as the Chief Kandy Municipal Council Accountant.

Attanayake was also the President of the Kandy Municipal Council Staff Recreation Club and gave his best for the promotion of sports at council level whenever it was necessary.
