Mahinda appeals for abducted Lankan's release Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse has made an appeal for the release of Dinesh Rajaratnam, the Sri Lankan Truck driver, from all those who were involved in his abduction. He made this appeal after delivering his condolence address at the Palastinian Leader Yasser Arafat's funeral in Cairo, last Saturday. The Premier said that the family eagerly awaits his safe return to Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, the Kuwait Transport Company's Chairman Jazeem Mustapha Bootai has granted 300 dinars (Rs.105,348) to the family members of Dinesh as a Ramazan Gift. Deputy Foreign Minister Professor Viswa Warnapala said that through Al Jazira Television Channel he made an appeal to the religious leaders and also has done everything possible through the Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon and Saudi Embassies for the release of the Sri Lankan, abducted in Iraq. |
