Rukmal Cooray wins tennis titles at STC C'ships

Rukmal Cooray (Asian International) won the under-16 and 18 singles and doubles under-18 titles at the S. Thomas' College annual Junior Ranking Tennis Championship 2004.

This 15-year-old promising young tennis star was the first seed in under-16 and 18 in Sri Lanka won the under-16 final beating Kohulan Ravindrakumar of S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia 6-2, 6-3 an also created a major upset in the boy's under-18 final beating Sanka Athukorale 6-3, 6-3.

Rukmal Cooray also became the winner in the under-18 and doubles playing with Sanka Athukorale beat Krishantha Thangaraja/Shalin Fernando of St. Peter's College 6-2, 6-2.

Cooray of AIS became the star at S. Thomas' College Junior Tennis Championship 2004 and was awarded a special award an air ticket to Singapore by SriLankan Airlines.

Cooray is being coached by veteran Indian tennis coach Arul Amalanadan.
