Kapila wins 40 km racing event

M. Kapila of Sri Lanka Army SC won the 40 kilometre racing event at the Cyclone 2004 cycle race worked off at the Viharamaha Devi Park in Colombo yesterday.

S. K. Varuna of Sri Lanka Police SC came second while Lakmal Dissanayake of Sama Cycling Club Battaramulla was placed third. Over 89 competitors participated in this race.

Meanwhile in the standard 20 kilometre race G. C. Kumarage also from Sri Lanka Army SC came first with his teammate W. P. J. S. Kumara taking the runner-up place. Gamini Jayawardena was placed in this race where a total of 163 competitors participated. In the mountain biking race Amal Suranga came first in the men's open event with Ayesha Sumanaweera winning the women's open event.
