Seven Senior DIGs? by Sarath Malalasekera The National Police Commission (NPC) is considering appointing Senior Deputy Inspector Generals of Police, and their names will be announced soon, NPC Chairman, President's Counsel Ranjit Abeysuriya said. The Cabinet had approved the appointment of seven senior DIGs, sources said. The NPC had requested IGP Chandra Fernando to inform the Commission how many Senior DIGs should be appointed. Two DIGs' names are already with the Commission. Five DIGs are qualified to the posts of Senior DIGs, but investigations are pending against several DIGs. The other Commission members are Prof. M. T. A. Furkhan, A. de Z. Gunasekera, Ven. Dr. Thumbulle Seelakkandha Thero, Dr. S. J. Stephen, S. B. Bandusena and M. Kopalasundaram. |
