Deputy Minister of Finance, and Kegalle District UPFA MP Ranjith Siyambalapitiya made these observations at the inauguration of training to graduates who are to be offered jobs in Government service. A total of 1375 graduates received their appointment letters, at St. Joseph's Balika Vidyalaya, Kegalle. The Deputy Minister said, that these graduates are an asset to the country to take forward its development program. Siyambalapitiya accused the former regime of not utilising the services of these youth, who have been confined to their homes Jobs, he said were offered against political, racial and religious bias. The policy of the government the Deputy Minister said, is to be void of political bias when offering jobs. Siyambalapitiya said that there is a dearth of officials in the administrative education and health services. But the last regime, he said, even failed to provide jobs to employees for hospital service. Their excuse was that there were no funds in the Treasury and vacancies in Government service. This way, the UNP neglected offering jobs to educated youth including graduates. Advising the new appointees, the Deputy Minister said, they may confront shortcomings in their workplaces, but to ignore them and pledge to discharge their responsibilities loyally and honestly. |
