California grapes now in Lanka

The California Table Grape Commission launched a promotion campaign in partnership with Cargills Food City outlets in Staples Street and Park Road Colombo.

Ambassador of the United States Jeffrey J. Lunstead participated in the promotion that started on Friday.

He said that world-renowned California grapes are an example of American agricultural products available to the Sri Lankan consumer. "I welcome this initiative to introduce this healthy American export to Sri Lankans ," he said.

Sumit Saran, Country Representative of the California Table Grape Commission, said that "Health enjoys top priority for today's consumer on the fast track with salads and fresh fruits forming an important part of our diet. Consumers are increasingly looking for healthier eating options and California Grapes don't just taste great but are packed with polynutrients that enhance health and protect against diseases like heart ailments and cancer," he said.
