by Asanga Warnakulasuriya Security in Colombo was tightened yesterday following the recent spate of killings with Police deciding to introduce spot road blocks in Colombo and suburbs. Colombo DIG Sirisena Herath told the Daily News yesterday that spot road blocks manned by heavily armed police officers will be set up in over 100 junctions in Colombo. "On a tip off of any kind of criminal activity, these roadblocks will be set up in junctions with immediate effect to apprehend the fleeing assailants," the DIG said. "These check points will not be static and will not inconvenience the public," the DIG said. |
