Bush wins US election as Kerry concedes

WASHINGTON, Wednesday (Reuters) US President George W. Bush won a second four-year term in the White House Wednesday, with Democratic challenger Senator John Kerry conceding the election after a nail-biting, night-long delay that focused on the key state of Ohio.

Still no contact with Dinesh's abductors

The Foreign Ministry confirmed yesterday that the latest Asian abducted by the Iraqi militants was a Nepali, not a Sri Lankan as suspected earlier. The Foreign Ministry's Deputy Information Director said the Sri Lankan ambassador in Kuwait has confirmed the latest asian victim's identity.

President on working visit to India

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga was scheduled to leave Sri Lanka last night on a five day working visit in India on an invitation by her Indian counterpart Abdul Kalam to boost the existing relations between the two countries in the fields of economic, political, trade and defence.
