ANCL Media Sponsor : Cycle Cylone 2004 to thrill all cycling fans by Bernard Perera On the day of the Cycle Cylone 2004, on November 7. The Mountain Biking Association hopes to conduct six events. These events will be run on Artificial track specially made for the day at Viharamahadevi Park. For this purpose Deputy Mayor of Colombo Municipal Council Assad Salley has given the green light, said Amal Suriyage President Mountain Biking Association. According to Suriyage Ramps specially made for the event will be used, and the track will have gravel, tar and grass which the riders have to go on. He also said that "There will be only under 13 age group event for girls, and others who wish to compete over 13 years are eligible to participate in the Ladies open event, the other event to be worked off on this day for Mountain Bikes will be under 15 boys and girls, under 16 Boys, Open Ladies, Men's open event and the Fun Riders event. The first three winners of Mountain Biking events are to receive Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in addition to other gifts. There will also be awards up to sixth position. The standard event Riders are to cover a deistance of 19 kilometers round the Viharamahadevi Park, each lap being 1.9 kilometers (10 laps). Meanwhile the Racing Riders have to complete 15 laps on the same circuit said Suriyage. Riders of these two races who finish within the tenth position are to receive medals and other awards. A full day's programme of cycling events are scheduled for the day, along with other activities giving a carnival atmosphere for everyone who make their way to the venue on this day. |
