| Pro-Karuna political party launched Colombo, 12 October, [Asiantribune,com:] A new political Party - TamilEela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal - TamilEela People's Liberation Tigers, has been organized under the leadership of V. Muralitharan alias Colonel Karuna and an application for the registration as a registered and recognized political party in Sri Lanka, has been handed over to the Department of Elections, this morning in Colombo. G. R. Gnanaraja - Secretary General of the newly formed political party handed over the application and subsequently claimed publicly the formation of the TamilEela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal, in Colombo today and released the basic concept of the "Tamil People's Manifesto of the Party." In a statement to the press Gnanaraja claimed that their struggle "for the liberation of the Tamils would be based according to the valuable democratic principles." He further added while engaging in the liberation of the Tamils to win back their lost rights, their political party will engage in maintaining peace and harmony all over and adopt a non-aligned international policy. The full text of the statement released by Gnanaraja, the Secretary General of TamilEela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal is given below : Beloved Tamil people, Vanakam, We pay our heroic homage and remember our heroes who martyred whilst engaged in the struggle for our liberation and to those of our people who martyred in the battle for liberation. Today, on 12 October, 2004, we publicly claim the formation of our "TamilEela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal" - TamilEelam People's Liberation Tigers, our political party, under the able Presidentship of Venayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Colonel Karuna. It has been resolved that we shall continue our struggle until such time we retrieve back and win the rights and aspirations of the Tamils. We are struggling for the past 20 years. But due to wrong leadership of the autocrat Prabakaran our young nation has faced doom and destruction. Thousands of Tamil peoples have lost their lives. Prabakaran has created a wedge of enmity in the midst of the Tamils and has led the nation towards a ruinous path. Prabakaran has not only ruined the leadership of the Tamils, but also has ruined everything, beginning from art, culture, including human compassion and all the righteous conducts of our people. We started our struggle to liberate ourselves from the Government of Sri Lanka, but today our Tamil people has to engage in a struggle to liberate themselves from the clutches of Prabakaran. For our Nation to be liberated we needed the sympathy and support of the international community. This was also the history of those already liberated countries. But the situation of our Nation has transformed into a different shape. Instead of gaining sympathy we have obtained the label as terrorists. The nobleness of the liberation was changed as "Terrorists" which was achieved by none other than Prabakaran. Our responsibility is not only winning back the lost rights of the Tamil Nation, but also redeem our people from Terrorist Prabakaran. Therefore : (a) We TamilEela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal hereby pledges that we will continue with our struggle until we win back our liberation under the leadership of Karuna. (b) We hereby assure that according to the advise and aspirations of the Tamil people, we will formulate our proposals and policies and would come forward to diligently implement accordingly. (c) We guarantee that the liberation of the Tamils would be based according to the valuable democratic principles. We appeal to the Tamils all over to provide us with all their support and assistance and also contribute their share in directing the Tamil Nation. We are giving separately the statement of our leader Karuna.We appeal to the international community, print and electronic media all over to give us their unstinted support and cooperation. Our party would hereafter be called in abbreviation as T.M.V.P". |
