by Sarath Malalasekera Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) Director Senior SP Sarath Lugoda who is leading the investigations into the killing of UPFA Western Provincial Council member Namal Gunawardena yesterday said that the assailant had used two types of firearms in the killing. Investigations directed by Colombo DIG Sirisena Herath said that on the direction of IGP Chandra Fernando, the CCD took over the investigations. The Kollupitiya Police and the Gampaha Police are also assisting in the investigations. UPFA member Gunawardena was found dead inside his vehicle at Dharmaraja Mawatha, Kollupitiya on Monday night. Colombo South Judicial Medical Officer Dr. S.M. Colombage, Government Analyst Gunawardena and Crime, Crime Intelligence and Police Narcotics Bureau DIG Jayantha Wikcremaratne visited the scene immediately after the shooting incident and made their obsavations. |
