Lanka's first Corner Bookstore opens at Barista (WTC)

The Corner Bookstore, a new concept in-store bookshop opened this week at the Barista coffee shop at the World Trade Centre (WTC).

The first of its kind in Sri Lanka, The Corner Bookstore is a mini bookshop which is situated inside a retail premises. The mini bookshop inside Barista on Level 3 of the WTC offers customers the facility to browse and buy the latest international newspapers, magazines and bestsellers as they enjoy a coffee break or a snack.

The shop was opened by Aalok Wadhwa, Chief Executive Officer of the Corner Bookstore in India which operates similar kiosks at Barista outlets in India.

It is envisaged that the concept of mini bookshops will lead to the opening of mini bookshops not only in Colombo but also in other parts of Sri Lanka on a franchise basis, Wadhwa said.

The books and know-how of the trade and details of actual operations are provided by the Corner Bookstore.

The Corner Bookstore is managed by Vijitha Yapa Bookshop.
