Price indices up at Bourse

Price indices moved up during the day with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) which started at 1445.4 points moving up by 6 points to close at 1451.4 points. The Milanka Price Index (MPI) which started at 2130.8 points moved up by 5.9 points to reach 2136.7 points.

A total turnover of Rs. 267.3 million was recorded as against Rs. 111.8 million on Monday. The Hotels and Travels sector accounted for 47% of the total turnover.

Hotels and Travels, Trading and Beverages Food and Tobacco sectors recorded gains while Investment Trust, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals and Health Care sectors recorded negative gains.

A total of 3793 trades were concluded with a share volume of 9.2 million shares being traded.

Foreign investors were net buyers with purchases of Rs. 31 million and sales of Rs. 14.4 million.

The top gainers included Alufab, Statcon, Kelsey Development, Ceylinco Housing and Lanka Aluminium while Vanik Debentures, LB Finance and Vanik (normal) were among the top losers.
