Rs. 150 m to enhance partnership between Lanka, EU The European Commission has launched a new Call for Proposals inviting project proposals for co-financing under the European Union (EU) -Sri Lanka Small Projects Facility (SPF). The overall objective of this program is to support the ongoing reform process of the Sri Lankan economy and to enhance partnership between EU and Sri Lanka, a press release from the Economic and Trade Assistance European Commission Delegation said. The purpose of the SPF is to improve the EU Sri Lanka economic relations by promoting civil society dialogue and facilitating interactions in the areas of economic reforms and trade and investment-related matters that would foster mutual understanding and further strengthen the cooperation between Sri Lanka and the EU. Project proposals can be submitted by Sri Lanka based on non-profit legal entities, governmental or non-governmental organisations, including business associations, chambers of commerce, local authorities, Sri Lankan Universities, Think tanks. Priority and areas for the 2004 call for proposals are Governance and Public Administration, Trade and investment related matters and Economic cultural co-operation. SPF approved project proposals will be financed through a grant contract signed between the European Commission and the applicant institution. The Delegation of the European Commission to Sri Lanka is preparing an Information session, for all interested parties, on November 3 at 10.00 am at the Delegation of the European Commission. |
