Low grown set record at tea auction The Colombo Tea Auction averages have shown an improvement from this year, despite the downward trend in June. which has been arrested, resulting steady progress. The year started with the high growns selling at Rs. 157.16, mediums at Rs. 135.37 and low growns at Rs. 162.29, whilst, the total average stood at Rs. 156.66. As at the auction of September, 29, the high growns have moved up to Rs. 184.76, whilst the medium grown average was Rs. 169.07. The low grown average stood at Rs. 209.21, which is the highest ever for Low growns at the Colombo Tea Auctions. The cumulative, Colombo Auction average as at September 29, was Rs. 170.28, as against a figure of Rs. 145.13, during the corresponding period last year. In US Dollar terms, the current year's cumulative Auction average amounts to US$ 1.65 per kg. |
