Police tennis team in runaway win

The Sri Lanka police tennis team beat the visiting German tennis club Nevenhagener TC 93 by 8 matches to nil in the first game played on Friday.

The German tennis club from Berlin is on a 10-day tour of Sri Lanka and will play the second match against Sri Lanka police this week at the police courts, Police Park Colombo this week.

The Nevenhagener TC 93 team comprises Bernd Witte, Martin Heinre, Hartmut Wedekind and Stephan Von Auer.

The results of the first match -

Rifard and Wijeshan (Police) beat Bernd and Stefan (Nevenhagener TC 93) 6-3, Dissanayake and Wettasinghe (Police) beat Martin and Hartmut (Nevenhagener TC 93) 6-1, Sunil and Gamage (Police) beat Stefan and Martin (Nevenhagener TC 93) 6-4, R. M. Lafir and Kuruppu (Police) beat Bernd and Hartmut (Nevenhagener TC 93) 6-0, Bandara and Ratnasiri (Police) beat Bernd and Stefan (Nevenhagener TC 93) 6-2, Samarakoon and Ratnayake (police) beat Martin and Bernd (Nevenhagener TC 93) 6-0, Rifard and Wijeshan (Police) beat Stefan and Bernd (Nevenhagener TC 93) 6-1, Samarakoon and Ratnasiri (Police) beat Bernd and Martin (Nevenhagener TC 93) 6-3.
