DIMO wins major contract to supply warehouse equipment By Anjana Samarasinghe Diesel and Motor Engineering Co (Pvt) Ltd (DIMO) has won a major contract to supply warehouse equipment for the new SriLankan catering facility in Katunayake having competed against a large international field of bidders. SriLankan Catering (Pvt) Ltd initially awarded a design and building contract for construction of a warehousing and catering facility in Katunayake to the Malaysian firm Bovis Lend Lease Sdn Bhd (BLLSB). The BLLSB has selected DIMO to supply a storage and material handling equipment package to create a fully equipped facility. "Tourism is booming in Sri Lanka today. The number of tourists who visit Sri Lanka has been increasing," said CEO of SriLankan Catering (Pvt) Ltd Dilip Nijawan at the press conference in Colombo last week. "The increase in air travel has led to the need for a new catering facility," he said. "Sri Lankan catering's prime responsibility is the preparation of high quality inflight meals. Food safety for inflight catering facility is essential," he said. "We are happy to have DIMO as part of our team," he said. "We are very much in the material handling business. We are happy to be a part of the new SriLankan catering facility in Katunayake," said Chairman/CEO of DIMO Ranjith Pandithage. "SriLankan catering has invested US$ 25 million on this project. We hope to invest a lot on after sales services," he said. |
