National schools principals were instructed to complete small scale reconstruction work in their schools by the end of December this year at a special conference chaired by Education Ministry Secretary Dr. Tara de Mel at the Education Ministry Auditorium yesterday. The Ministry allocated Rs. 100,000 for each of the National Schools islandwide to uplift physical and infrastructure facilities. The conference was attended by National Schools Director G.H.P. Geeganage, Education Development Deputy Secretary S.L. Gunawardena, Commissioner of Appeals A.M.R.B. Amarakone, Senior Ministry Officials and 324 National School Principals from all parts of the island, the ministry said in a release yesterday. Among other matters discussed at the conference were the shortage of teaching staff, salary increments to principals, Laboratory, Library and building facilities and admissions to grade one. |
