Bridwell Estate, Talawakelle topped the prices for the upcountry region by selling a line of Pekoe at Rs. 500 per kilogramme through their brokers Forbes and Walkers Limited at the tea auctions held on September 22. Mahagastota Estate under the Pedro Group also sold a line of Pekoe for Rs. 410 also through Forbes and Walkers Limited.

The top prices for the various regions at the auction were:

Western Medium Grown: BOP Rs. 350 Kenilworth Group, BOPF Rs. 225 Dotel Oya Estate, Pekoe Rs. 285 jointly by Monte Cristo Estate, Silverkanda Estate and Geragama Estate.

Western High Grown: BOP Rs. 248 Inverness Estate, BOPF Rs. 270 Alton Estate, Pekoe Rs. 500 Bridwell Estate.

Nuwara Eliya Tea: BOP Rs. 237 Court Lodge Estate, BOPF Rs. 285 Court Lodge Estate Pekoe Rs. 410 Mahagastota Estate.

Udapussellawa Tea: BOP Rs. 245 Delmar Group, BOPF Rs. 194 Luckyland Group, Pekoe Rs 275 Delmar Group. Uva Tea: BOP Rs. 320 Uva Highland Estate and Bombagalla Uva Estate, BOPF Rs. 375 Uva Highland Estate, Pekoe Rs. 370 Shawlands Group.

Unorthodox Teas (CTC):

Western High: PF 1 Rs. 220 Kotiyagalla Group, BP 1 Rs. 178 Kotiyagalla Group, BPS Rs. 179 Wanarajah Group.

Uva High Grown: PF 1 Rs. 191, BP 1 Rs. 179 - Poonagalla Group.

Medium Grown: PF 1 Rs. 202 Duckwari Group, Rangala, BP 1 Rs. 171 Galpehele Group, BPS Rs. 181 Alakolla Group.

Dusts: Dust No. 1 Rs. 236 Kirkoswald Group. Off Grades: FGS 1 Rs. 195 Yuilliefield Group, Rs. 194 Clydesdale Estate in Kotiyagalla Group.
