Gampaha town development plan on time

"The policy of the Freedom Alliance Government is to complete the development projects in time and fulfil the people's aspirations, Deputy Minister of Highways T. B. Ekanayake and at the inauguration ceremony of the Gampaha-Orutota Highway construction. "We have a proper plan on every development program. As such the construction of Gampaha-Orutota road for which Rs. 55.8 m has been granted will be completed on time," he said.

Ekanayake said the Ministry of Highways has taken action to develop the Gampaha town under a special development program purposely neglected by the previous regime. "There cannot be any delay to complete the Gampaha Town Development Project. Rs. 250 million has already been allocated to build the flyover bridge," he said.

Rs. 20 million for the half constructed bridge crossing the Attanagaluoya implemented under the Gampaha Town Development Plan and Rs. 55.8 million on Gampaha-Orutota Highway projects, have been released, he said.

Deputy Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs Pandu Bandaranayaka, said the "People's Alliance will not have political party interest when it comes to the country's development and the needs of the people. "The government is prepared to cooperate with all political parties to develop the country and to solve the prevailing problems," he said.

Gampaha Mayor Ajith Mannapperuma said the Council is prepared to cooperate and assist the development programs being implemented by the government although the Municipality is under UNP control. Both parties, aim is to solve the problems in the country and to develop the country. Our aim is also to develop the town and to look into the hardships of the tax payers. Therefore we unanimously decided to assist the town development program, he said.
