SLBC teams up with BBC for quality programs

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has teamed up with the English service of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) to broadcast a variety of quality programs, a spokesman for the corporation said.

The highlights of the programs are:

Analysis - This program explores the background to the stories in the news.

Assignment - The weekly program which delves behind the headlines to find out how news events affect people's lives. it seeks out those responsible for making policy; and those best able to talk from direct experience about leaders' action or inaction.

Football Extra (Sport, weekly) - Background to the world of football, with reviews and interviews plus previews of the week's forthcoming matches.

From Our Own Correspondent - BBC Correspondents around the world provide insights into the stories behind the news and share their perceptions of life in their part of the world.

Global Business - Every week the program charts the changes sweeping through world commerce - from small businesses to multi-nationals and monopolies - and explores the broader issues affecting the way we work and survive.

Letter (weekly) - The inside story on what is happening around the world in the BBC World Service's newsletter series. Every week one of the panel of International broadcasters will reflect on the latest developments - political, cultural, social - in their part of the world.

People and Politics (Current Affairs, weekly) - Inside British politics - insight and analysis from our team of political experts.

Reporting Religion - This program provides insight into how religion influences people's lives. It also explores religion's role in politics and economics, and the ethical questions thrown up by science and medicine.

Sports Round-up (Sports, throughout the day) - Latest news and up to the minute reports featuring all the major sports stories from around the world.

The Interview - Carrie Gracie talks to the people who are shaping our world, the people who are making the decisions that count or pushing buttons behind the scenes, on the major issues of the day - politics, business, culture and sport.
