Positive Star to call at Colombo

The vessel MV Positive Star, a new ship owned by Japan's Eastern Car Liner Ltd (ECL) will call at the Colombo Port on Sunday on her maiden voyage.

ECL has been serving the Japan and Colombo trade sector as a Pure Car Carrier (PCC) operating since March 2000, catering to the vehicle importers in Sri Lanka.

The company has acquired a fleet of newly built (PCC) multi purpose vessels designed for heavy vehicles to comply with the needs of shippers.

ECL owns a market share of 20% of the Japan and Colombo car carrier trade at present was established in 1977 to provide transportation of automobiles, heavy vehicles and construction machinery to South East Asia.

ECL's local agents, Prudential Shipping Lines (Pvt) Ltd said that the company is proud to have served the local importers of vehicles throughout this period. With this new vessel adding into the ECL fleet, the company will be able to provide a further service to its clientele, said Rohith Mendis Managing Director.

Positive Star has the capacity to carry 4,000 units of automobiles and a 100MT ramp way with a 20-knot service speed. Positive Star started its maiden voyage in mid August will leave for the Middle East from Colombo.
