Bangladesh airports normal DHAKA, thursday (AFP) Bangladesh's three international airports were operating normally Wednesday following an anonymous threat to blow up one of them, the official BSS news agency said. The manager of the northeastern Sylhet Osmani International Airport, Siddiqur Rahman, said he received a telephone call Tuesday telling him that the whole airport would be blown up when an Airbus which was due to arrive touched down, BSS quoted him as saying. The Civil Aviation Authority was informed and security was tightened at all three international airports, including the capital Dhaka's Zia International Airport, the agency added. It said that following inquiries, flight arrivals and departures were allowed to go ahead and the authorities now considered the threat a hoax. BSS did not say if the anonymous caller specified the flight being targeted although a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from London via Dubai and Dhaka had been due to arrive at the airport. |
