The Ministry of Education is planning a special training program for the 84 new principals, scheduled to be appointed to National Schools in September. An interview board according to a specified marking scheme developed previously, selected the principals. The special training of one month will include modules focused on leadership, management, positive thinking and service excellence amongst others. A press release issued by the Ministry of Education yesterday states in addition, a special module on the rights of children, and educational reforms will also be included. In future, the selection of Principals to National Schools, their pre-service specialized training and in-service evaluation will be based on a new approach, which the Ministry of Education is in the process of preparation. This new approach will also include a specific component where the new Principal to be, will understudy the incumbent for some time, prior to taking over office. |
