12th annual NCE export awards ceremony

The twelfth annual National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) will be held at 6.30 p.m. today.

They will recognise the most outstanding performances of exporters for their valuable contribution towards increasing export volumes in 2003 and bringing much needed and valuable foreign exchange to the country, a spokesman for the NCE said.

The awards scheme encourages and regards exporters at all levels to further develop and achieve excellence in their relevant sectors, he said.

The Chief Guest at the awards ceremony will be Jeremy Carter, Senior Resident Representative, International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The NCE awards ceremony has continued for the past 12 years and has to date felicitated over 700 exporters, from nine awards from 28 applications at the beginning to an impressive 85 awards from 188 applicants today.

The scheme is open to members of the NCE, whose membership has grown from 42 to top the 500 mark this year, which again is another milestone for the NCE.

The 85 Awards this year will comprise 38 Gold, 33 Silver and 14 Bronze Awards.
