Coconut Auctions at regional level The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and the Coconut Development Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand the coconut auctions at regional level for the benefit of the growers and industrialists (processing industries) who are engaged in the coconut sector, for the development of the coconut industry. Percy Wadugedara, Chairman, Coconut Development Authority and Neil Seneviratne, Secretary General of The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka signed the MoU on behalf of the two parties. The next auction will be held on August 17 at Kuliyapitiya. The first regional fresh coconut auction was held on July 20 at the Siri Madura, Kuliyapitiya. The Coconut Development Authority in association with the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) conducted the auction with the assistance of the Coconut Cultivation Board and the Sri Lanka Coconut Producers' Co-operative Society Union Ltd. Officials and members of Coconut Growers' Association, Desiccated Coconut Millers Association, Coconut Products Traders Association and Coconut Products Brokers Association participated. |
