Kandy-Old Zahirians clash in curtain raiser of Clifford Cup Tourney Caltex 'A' Division League Rugby Champions Kandy Sports Club will confront wooden spoonists Old Zahirians in the curtain raiser of the Caltex 'A' Division Knock-out Tournament for the Clifford Cup on August 13 at Nittawela. Ten times winners of club rugby's richest prize - the Clifford Cup, Kandy SC will go all out to make it six-in-a row having won it for the last five years since the tournament was revived in 1999 after a lapse of one year. On the same day (August 13) Police Sports Club will take on Air Force in another quarter-final at Longden Place. On August 14 (Saturday) Army will meet Havelocks at Longden Place while second placed CH and FC will confront Navy in the last quarter-final on August 15 (Sunday) at Havelock Park. The two semi-finals will be worked off on August 18 (Nittawela) and August 19 (Havelock Park) with the final scheduled for August 22 (Sunday) at Nittawela. The schedule: Quarter-Finals: (a) Kandy SC vs Old Zahirians at Nittawela on August 13. (b) Army SC vs Havelocks at Longdon Place on August 14. (c) CH and FC vs Navy at Havelock Park on August 15. (d) Police vs Air Force at Longden Place on August 13. Semi-finals: (e) Winner of (a) vs winner of (b) at Nittawela on August 18. (f) Winner of (c) vs winner of (d) at Havelock Park on August 19. Finals: on August 22 at Nittawela.
