Discussion between Govt. and LTTE A meeting was held in SLMM Office, Akkaraipattu at 10.00 a.m. yesterday under the chairmanship of Raimo Rastas, Head of District of Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission, Ampara, a press release issued by SLMM states. The delegation from the GOSL consisted of Ratnayake SSP-STF, Upul Seneviratne, SP-STF Jayasundara, ASP-STF, Wijewickrema, HQI-Police, Herath, TMIM Buhary and Shiran Perera, OIC-Police and representatives. The delegation from LTTE consisted of Kuilinpan, Head of Political Wing, Ampara District, Murali, Administration, Messrs. Manosh, Shankari, Chandrmohan and Albert. Also present was LMC Member Soundarajan. The SLMM delegation consisted of Head of SLMM Ampara District, Raimo Rastas, Ms. Susanne Pedersen, Head of District, SLMM Batticaloa, Deputy Head of District, Ampara, Jens Vang, Roger Scarvik, Monitor, Translators Vincent Fernando and Simon Jesudasan and representatives. The parties reviewed and discussed general matters. A common understanding was reached regarding body checks, baggage checks and vehicle checks. It was also agreed by both parties to honour and cooperate in order to avoid any violation of the Ceasefire Agreement. The parties also agreed to continue to respect the Ceasefire Agreement entered into between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam on February 22. |
