Young Presidents Organisation to set up Colombo chapter The Young Presidents Organisation (YPO), a US based, worldwide association of top Chief Executives and business heads, is planning to establish a Chapter in Colombo. YPO, as it is popularly known, is established in over 75 countries with 177 Chapters all over the world. It has over 8.700 members of which over 14% are from the Asia Pacific region, which would include Sri Lanka, a media release from the organisation said. The YPO membership consists of leading businessmen, industrialists, professionals and business owners who are below 50 years old and are the head of their respective companies or organisations. The collective turnover of all YPO member companies worldwide exceeds US$ 2 trillion, effectively making YPO, if it were an economy, the third largest in the world. YPOers employ more than eight million people worldwide. YPO is well established in South Asia with its first Chapter being set up over 25 years ago in Bombay, India. Today India alone has six chapters including Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune and Bombay with over 100 members. The total Indian membership is 285 including the who's who of Indian industry such as Mukesh Ambani of Reliance, Vindi Banga of Levers, Anand Mahindra of Mahindra's and Azim Premji of Wipro and Sanjeev Goenka of RPG group. |
