Property to be re-assessed in Deraniyagala PS area

Deriyanagala Pradesiya Sabaha, announced over the public address system, that they propose to re-assess all buildings and houses within the PS and to allow officials to enter their premises.

Meanwhile, ratepayers complain that no service was rendered from the PS, except collection of garbage along the main road, which too has now been handed over to a private contractor, who at times collects garbage kept alongside the main road, in the night when visibility is not possible and sometimes in daylight, leaving a large portion to stagnate.

Householders say when garbage is left in bags alongside the road, they are carried away by stray dogs and dumped elsewhere.

Ratepayers oppose the re-assessment and are in the process of preparing a mammoth petition to the Chief Minister, Sabaragamuwa PC Maheepala Herath, opposing the re-assessment and enhanced tax if any.
