Kidnap complaint: Police search for newly elected UNP PC member by Sarath Malalasekera Bambalapitiya Police investigating a complaint of kidnapping of a father of a 16-year-old-girl is looking for newly elected UNP Provincial Council Member Duminda Silva to record a statement in connection with the complaint, Bambalapitiya Police station OIC, Chief Inspector Ananda Kumarasiri said yesterday. Investigation directed by Colombo DIG Sirisena Herath revealed that the father, a resident of Malabe, had told Bambalapitiya police that several men, believed to be the Provincial Council member's security men had abducted him and his driver. The driver had been dropped at Battaramulla, investigations revealed. National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) officials said on Friday, the girl's father had attempted to make a complaint to police but failed due to several death threats. The officials said the politician against whom the complaint had been made, had not turned up for the inquiry and whereabouts are not known.
