CCISL Annual Technical Sessions

The Annual Technical Sessions and the Trade Exhibition of the Chamber of Construction Industry (CCISL), Sri Lanka will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse on August 9 at the Hotel Colombo Plaza.

The annual sessions of the Chamber will consist of two seminars on "Alternatives to River Sand for Construction Purposes" and "Concrete Roads, Soil Stabilisation: Emerging Alternatives for Sri Lanka's Road Modernisation Programme" to be held on August 9 and 10 respectively.

Some international consultants such as Dr. L. R. Kadiyali, a Highway Engineering Consultant from India and Dr. Gunther Scherr, a well known European Soil Scientist and Arnoud Kuis from Ballast Ham Dredging BV will participate as resource personnel.

Some of the most reputed academics on the subject of sand such as Prof. Priyan Dias, Dr. Anura Nanayakkara and Dr. Athula Senaratne are among the presenters of papers.

Senior Professor of the Moratuwa University, Prof. Willie Mendis, the renowned Soil Scientist Dr. C. R. Panabokke, the Coast Conservationist, H. J. M. Wickramaratne, and Asian Development Bank expert Hardeepak Singh are the session chairmen.

The objective of the program is to provide a forum for construction related agencies, institutes, professionals and activists to discuss and exchange ideas, concepts and views so as to arrive at an Agenda of Action that is long awaited to solve national problems.
