by Asela Kuruluwansa Diyawadana Nilame Neranjan Wijeyeratne yesterday expressed his gratitude to President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga for her decision to vest the Pallekele land on which the Thai-Sri Lanka International Buddhist Research Institute is being built, in the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy. The 16,615 hectare land now belongs to the Urban Development Authority. The Research Institute will house a Bhikku training centre, a 1,000 seat auditorium and a Bhikku hostel. The Buddhist public will be thankful to President Kumaratunga for this decision, the Diyawadana Nilame said. |
