CP Chief Minister takes oaths

Sarath Ekanayake, took oaths as the new Chief Minister in the Central Province before the Central Province Governor Monty Gopallawa on Sunday.

He told the media after the swearing in ceremony that he will carry out development work with the support of the Opposition.

"I intend carrying out a well planned development work in the Central Province and I will seek the support of the Opposition in this regard", the new Chief Minister said.

He further said that what was necessary today was to create a milieu for communities to live in peace and harmony in the whole country and Central Province will contribute its share in realizing this goal:

He said that he was happy to have taken this oath on a day where the commencement of annual 'Esela Perahera" was due. It is the responsibility of all members to work in unison and set a good example to the people at large", he added.
